Due to the globalization of the rapid internet development in recent years, traditional folk sports which used to be largely confined to local-based traditional activities have spread rapidly via the worldwide Internet. As a result, Taiwanese folk sports are no longer regarded solely as traditional folk activities. Instead, they are deemed as international traditional sports. The diablos (generally called Kung Chu in China and referred to as diablos in English) involves a great number of tricks so it often appears in acrobatic circus competitions around the world. It is also listed as a competition item in international amateur juggling competitions. It is quite often that actors perform diablos in professional juggling or circus competitions, which demonstrates the internationalization development of this traditional folk sport. With this robust internationalization, the diablos, generally regarded by Taiwanese people as a traditional folk sport, has experienced a silent change. Therefore, this research attempts to examine the trend and challenge of the future development of diablos in Taiwan, based on the alignment with its internationalization and preservation of its traditional style. Specific suggestions are offered as references for persons interested in the future marketing researches.
