This report is to formulate strategies to culture Taiwanese world-class table tennis players and coaches. We use well-known male athletes Wu Wen-Jia , Chiang Peng-Lung (both of them coached by Lin Zhong-Xiong), Chuang Chih-Yuan, and female athlete Chen Jing as examples to introduce how they became successful in Taiwan's environment. Based on our analysis, there are three ways that Taiwan can generate top players and have them stay competitive at the world's highest level: (1) the close-door domestic model (Wu Wen-Jia and Chiang Peng-Lung as the examples), (2) the attachment model (Chuang Chih-Yuan), and (3) the bring-in-Chinese-talent model (Chen Jing). The result will be useful for the future development of world-class table tennis athletes in Taiwan.
