Huang Zhongze, a poet of Qing Dynasty, was being a hot topic in literary research in Mingguo period, especially in '20s to '30s of 20th century. This paper compares the views of several scholars in Qing dynasty and Mingguo period, describes the differences of those views, in regards to the academic background in the early 20th century. The writings by Yu Dafu and Zhang Yiping introduced a new direction of Huang Zhongze research which was followed by many researchers. 'Love story' became the focus of such researches. These writings are lyrical, break through the restriction in literary style, forms and language. Moreover, they also responded to the new requirements argued by literature researchers, in the background of literature revolution in May Fourth Movement.
