Development of Taiwan's surfing since the 1960s has gone through a half-century-long period, and now even though it has become the mainstream in Taiwan's water leisure sports. However, surfing is still very much lacking in technical and safety knowledge. In addition, people's recognition in the professionalism of surfing is insufficient, and relevant researches and literatures are scarce. Therefore, the primary purpose of this research was to explore various stages in surfing techniques and analyze movements required in these techniques. Stages are hereby divided into two parts: 1. Basic techniques; 2. Advance techniques, and for each part the required movements are introduced and analyzed from the fundamentals progressing to the advance. Hopefully this study provides a different aspect in the research field of surfing leading people to a deeper understanding of the sport and at the same time provides a reference for surfing techniques enhancement.
