Postdural puncture headache is one of the most frequent complications of lumbar puncture following spinal anesthesia. It is defined as headache occurring after dural puncture and has significant effects on patient's postoperative well-being. The objective of this article was to explored the efficacy of routine bed rest to prevent post-dural puncture headache. A systemic literature search of PubMed, The Cochrane Library, and the Chinese Electronic Periodical Service. Electronic searches were using Boolean logic, Medical Subject Headings, and corresponding keywords. We selected one article which fulfilled our PICO. It included eleven trails among 1723 patients compared either bed rest with immediate mobilization. Routine bed rest after dural puncture does not prevent headache. There is no evidence from in this study to suggest that routine bed rest after dural puncture is beneficial.
