The paper is the final report of a cooperative project initiated by the Office of Research on Instruction and Material in Social Studies for Elementary Schools, an academic agency in the National Taichung University of Education. Teachers from the university were involved to cooperate with elementary school teachers in the new Taichung District to elevate their teaching skills on social studies. The purpose of the project is to reveal the effectiveness and implementation of integrating information literacy into teaching strategy.The findings of the project indicate that integrating information literacy into school-based curriculum of social studies helps teachers to refine their teaching skills and to logically organize the content in terms of sequence and clusters. With respect to students, the experiment group shows more positive attitude toward learning. However, there is no significant difference in the control and experiment groups on their achievement.
