Under the double influences of globalization and cross-cultural intermarriage, an aspect of ”new immigrant society” has appeared in Taiwan. Deepening the civilian's cultivation of multicultural respect has thus become an urgent issue. Yet, ”multi-respect” is not just a one-way local cultural immersion of the new immigrants; in contrast, multi-culture should be taken as a core concept by local people so as to foster the knowledge of the immigrants' native societies and cultures. This is the only way to achieve the goal of ”multi-respect”.The course, Culture and Images- Life Stories of the New Immigrants, is taken as an example of teaching design in a few aspects: the selection of texts, the application of teaching materials and pedagogy, teaching activities, the design of exercises and the share of teaching examples. The ideals and spirits of general education are expected to express in this course.
