Social enterprises have recently invested great effort in promotion among universities, governments, and non-governmental organizations. Fair trade is also attracting increasing attention. Fair trade shops are primarily intended to promote fair trade and related knowledge. Owing to a lack of understanding of the meaning and spirit of fair trade in Taiwan, together with a lack of related business experience, understanding and learning the development and current operating status of global fair trade is important. This study uses in-depth interviews to understand the current situation and analyze the plight of fair trade store operations to propose improvements and build a successful fair trade shop business model. This study hopes that operational experience and a successful business model for fair trade shops can become a reference for social entrepreneurs and ensure the better future development of fair Trade in Taiwan.
