Fast-pitch softball plays an important role in the development of physical education and sport in Taiwan. The performance of pitchers is usually the key issue for controlling the games. When we look back our accomplishments of international completions over the years, it is our primary task to draw up a longterm program for improving high school student-pitchers' pitching ability, if we want to break through the present achievement level. Hence, rigid skill training is necessary while high school student-pitchers start to train and the fast-pitch is most important skill within all the pitching skills. That means it is very crucial and essential to investigate the patterns of throwing fast ball in fast-pitch softball. However, present local studies merely show fragile and incomplete results, and the application studies about pitching and fast-pitch are rare. This study will explicitly illustrate the patterns of throwing a fast ball, the typical errors that high school student-pitchers usually make, and the corresponding correction methods which are useful for coaches. The results hopefully contribute to the professional development of domestic coaches, and further to improve the competition strength of fast-pitch softball in Taiwan.
