為何世界著名的第一學府哈佛大學將藝術擺在第一，每年舉辦「『藝術第一』藝術節」（ARTS FIRST Festival）活動？哈佛大學並非像紐約的藝術學院擁有耀眼的藝術光環，卻如此重視藝術教育，並有諸多舉措提升學生藝術涵養，成效卓著，名聞遐邇，諸多學者對其藝術教育和藝術節並予以論述，故引發筆者進行探究。 本文試以個人實地走訪哈佛大學2014年藝術節的一些觀察 ，探討哈佛大學如何運用藝術節推廣藝術教育的過程與成果。主要考察面向包括：該校藝術節的由來、推動藝術節的核心藝術辦公室、校園品牌「藝術第一」的創立、藝術節的挑戰、藝術節與校園博物館，以及2014年哈佛大學藝術活動紀實。筆者認為，作為一所最具全球影響力的世界名校哈佛大學，其藝術節的成功經驗，應可以成為觀察美國高校落實藝術教育的具體代表，同時可以作為博物館推行藝術教育活動、結合觀眾與社區總體營造的絕佳範例。筆者期以第一手資料，提供臺灣相關領域一個翔實案例的觀察，並引發多方思考，深化時代論述。

Why does the world-famous Harvard University place art at the forefront , and hold the ARTS FIRST Festival every year? Harvard University is not like the well-known Art Institutes in New York, but pays great attention to arts education and conducts many initiatives to enhance student art conservation. Its remarkable achievement has been discussed by many scholars, and this is the reason why I study the event. The aim of the paper is to observe Harvard University's Arts First Festival of 2014 in order to explore how the Harvard University Art Festival promotes art education processes and results. It will cover: the origin of the university festival, the core arts Festival promotional office, the creation of the campus brand, "Arts First," the challenges faced by the festival, and Harvard University arts activities in 2014. I believe that the successful experience of the festival at Harvard University, one of the world's most prestigious universities, could serve as a model for the way in which colleges and universities achieve the implementation of art education in the United States, as museums cooperate with communities to improve arts education. The author will provide first-hand information and insights about the festival.
