In The World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung, the world was amazed by Sepak Takraw. This sport combines the technics of soccer, the rule of volleyball, the court of badminton and the somersault of gymnasium. It's a kind of competitive sports with high performativity. This article found out a phenomenon by the researcher's own participating experience and relative documents that the growing rate of Sepak Takraw has become slower and slower. Also, the competitive performance has faced its bottleneck. So, the writer used SWOT to further analyze it, and the result indicated that in spite of the use in competition, sepak takraw also has lots of value like staying healthy, entertaining, socializing, and performing. It has a lot of advantages, too. For instance, the way to play is multiple; the needs of the court is simple; the cost of money is little; the life span of the equipment is long; last but not least, it is suitable for all levels of school to develop. However, it still has some disadvantages. Such as it is hard to learn in the beginning and the shortage of professional coach. It got a good chance to develop since Sepak takraw is a kind of sport which is highly valued in Asian countries, and our government has a new policy, The New Southbound Policy. On the other hand, it also faced some threats since Taiwan has attended few international competition recently, and the birth rate in Taiwan has kept dropping. In the end of the article, the writer column four methods to solve the problem. First, we have to raise students' interest in sepak takraw. Second, we need to make sure students can easily continue their study. Third, we have to host more international competitions. Last, we need to make good use of those immigrants who comes from South East Asia. Hoping that the strategy can boost up the promotion of Sepak Takraw in Taiwan, and make more people understanding its development in Taiwn.
