The opposition between pretérito indefinido and pretérito imperfecto, that is often used to express different realities, as well as distinctive perspectives of the same objective reality, is specially challenging for Chinese speakers due to their verbal system -in which verbs are unchangeable and do not provide any grammatical information-, and also because of their way of learning. In this article we present a didactic proposal based on a comprehensive approach, in which the cognitive treatment of the grammar will be essential; specifically, we will use images as the main way to explain both verb tenses and as a key part of the activities. Also, we will take the aspect as the grammatical category that will define this opposition.
