This study deals with the students in the third year of the junior high schools. The sampling centers on the instruction of the optional courses of vocation and the function of the vocational guidance for the junior high school students through questionnaires answered by 657 boystudents and 548 girl-students from twenty-six junior high schools of Taipei city and the province of Taiwan. Based on the facts about their views, the juniors at present are evaluated to some extent that they have obtained assistance in the instruction of the vocational optional courses and the vocational guidance. The main findings worked out by this writer show that: (1) Most of the sampled students consider the vocational optional courses helpful to individuals, but the scaled score is not evaluated high. (2) According to the samplings, the cultivation of vocation is evaluated as the most effective one of the vocational optional courses for the juniors by which they form a correct idea about vocation and know definitely how to choose between continuing education and employment. (3) The different factors about the sex, their schooling location, and their choice of school, do not affect the evaluation and its scaled scores on the teaching effects of the vocational optional courses. (4) Most of them consider that the vocational guidance is helpful to individuals, but the scaled scour is not graded high. This indicates that the ideal function of the vocational guidance remains undeveloped. (6) Concerning the juniors' vocational guidance, the surveyed students regard the cultivation of vocation, Vocational Aptitude Test, and choice of right school for right person as the most helpful work to the individuals. (6) Though the difference of thier sex, schooling area and desired field exists, yet the sampled juniors' evaluation on the function of the vocational guidance and its scale remains the same. (7) It indicates that "Educational Assistance" in the various measures for the vocational guidance to them has been well-functioned. Furthermore it shows that in order to fully develop the teaching effects of the vocational optional courses and upgrade the function of the vocational guidance, it reguires to beef up the conduct of vocational optional courses, thoroughly promote the various items of vocational guidance, strengthen conducting job training program and positively proceed to compile the general information about Education and vocation.
