In recent years, the microcomputer market in Taiwan area has experienced mushroom growth; its application in library operations has received more and more attentions by this profession. This article intends to analyze the characteristics of microcomputers and how they affect the libraries in their selections. It also tempts to introduce some systems of marked success as the reference to the library and information professionals.
