This article discusses the inseparable relations between an author's originality or creativity and the success of an academic research. The author further points out that "originality" relies heavily upon the effective use of reference tools. Therefore, the author concludes with an appeal for academic researchers to pay much attention to the acquisitions and the use of reference tools.
