This study intends to find out why librarians lack of authority andpower. The author compares librarians with physicians and lawyers in thefollowing parameters: their learning contents in the professional school, andthe legislative protection of the three professionals. The curricula of variousmedical schools, law schools, and library schools in Taiwan are analyzed, andthe legislative nature of the three professionals are compared to see thedifferences. The conclusion shows that librarians are inferior to physiciansand lawyers in their professional knowledge and legislative protection.
