Based on the results of a regional survey of the physical environments of rural/town public libraries in Taiwan, this article discussed the existing problems and factors which influenced the decisions of carpeting in children's rooms. Those factors included manpowers, budgets, and physical conditions. Besides, some basic items, such as material selection, dust prevention, acoustical treatments, and the co-used of A/V room, are also carefully examined. The article concluded with the argument that the final decision of carpeting should be cautiously considered by the librarians on the basis of the objective requirements and conditions of each room.
