Our research studies the factors related to the elderly who have chronic diseases at home. In advance, we can find good ways to care for the elderly. The researchers as public health nurses interview the elderly by semistructured questionnaire. We use content analysis to category and code the elderly's social support, their perception of caregiving and chronic disease, their coping behavior, family function, and the elders' and their children's bilial duties. Also, in our research, we used SPSS soft ware. The result inaicated that the elder's' approach coping behavior with a negative significant relationship to avoidance coping behavior. The elder's coping behavior has a positive significant relationship with the elder's family function, but, the elders' avoidance coping behavior has a significant negative relationship with the elders' family function. In social support, we have two categories: the family and the community. The family's support has significant affect on the elder's family function. But, the community support has a non-significant affect on the family function. Furthermore, the elder's coping behavior has a significant relationship with the faily support. Then, the elder's coping behavior has a non-significant relationship with community support. Finally, the acceptant case of the perception of caregiving and chronic disease has a higher family function score than the ambivalent case. The acceptant case's value of bilial duties is consistent with his/her children value, but the ambivalent case's value of bilial duties is not consistent with his/her children value.
