Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (H.B.O.) is a medical treatment. It provides high oxygenation and pressure to tissue. The intermittent hyperoxia promotes neovascularization, osteogenesis, normal fibroblast sactivity, collagen synthesis, and increase leuckocyte phagocytosis. Also decrease loacal tissue perfusion to cause vasoconstriction and noxious gas volumes which is important to treat decomparession sickness, monoxide poisoning and cyanide poisioning. The purpose of this article is to provide information on H.B.O. in plastic surgery, especially in the wound healing mechanism, treatment, the nursing role, and nursing intervention.
