題名:英國小學兒童性別認同差異之個案研究

本研究以參與觀察和訪談為資料收集方法,針對英國約克夏郡的某一所小學兒童研究其性別認同,以及男女學童在行為上的差異。 經資料分析後,主要可歸納出三個性別認同的主題,分別是:性別隔離,兒童的男性化行為和女性化行為,以及男性化態度與女性化態度。學校操場與教室中均可發現兒童的性別隔離,尤其是對團體有強烈認同感的兒童更是免與異性相處;其次,男孩特別喜歡表現其堅韌性與勇敢,一般認為是男性化的特質;而女孩碰到一些傳統上認定的男性學科,例如:工藝課,則表現怯懦;第三,透過傳統的性別角色分工,男孩的男性化特質被加強,例如:男人做粗活兒,女人煮飯,做家事,照顧小孩。但是,本研究發現:在學校中,女孩除了表現其女性特質之外,也有女性主義意識的覺醒,亦即意識到不平等。性別認同差異可從家庭勞動的性別分工,學校課程,教師,以及性別刻板印象幾方面解釋。
