This study report is based on the responses to the questionaire distributed to 125 university and junior college libraries in Taiwan, for the purpose of understanding the current status and the problems confronted in the field of library user education. The findings indicate that the most commonly- used modes of library user education are the quite different from those assumed by librarians to be the best and most accessible. The most accessible method referred above means computerized guiding system. Besides, there is a significant increase among libraries in colleges providing library use programs with academic credits. This study report also demonstrates differences in the educating program of library use and other related issues between university libraries and junior college libraries. As a conclusion, there is a discussion into some problems revealed through this survey, along with some suggestions from the researcher, for future references in library user education planning.
