本研究以海岸地理空間為背景，參考各國聚落發展模式之相關研究，並結合BRM模式及模糊度量AHP的方法，選擇臺灣東部海岸聚落為研究對象，試圖探討海岸聚落的成長因素與發展條件，進而歸納出具臺灣本土特性的聚落類型與發展模式，藉以來評定岸聚落的發展方向，希望對岸地區的開發有所助益，並以此作為後續擬定發展策略之參考。

　　　　　This study tries to combine Smith's「Beach Resort Model」, Fuzzy model and AHP model to examine the growth and development of coastal settlements. This study uses Taiwan east coast as a case study. It describes the transition of coastal development, and highlight key events and processes in categories of factors. The value of these models lie in their Comprehensive and dynamic structure.
