運動能量代謝隨運動強度與時間而改,短時間高強度運動以糖類為主要的能量代謝來源。ATP-CP能量系統約僅能維持10至12秒左右,緊接著即須依賴無氧糖酵解作用維持快速能量需求,其大約佔總無氧能量代謝之80%,至於肌肉類型產生能量差異上顯示快速與慢速收縮肌纖維內ATP貯存量約略同,但快速收縮肌肉的肌磷酸含量則比慢速收縮肌多。運動訓練時須針對不同功能之訓練項目強化不同能量代謝能力。
