This article discusses the status quo and future trend of library science journals in mainland China. The first library journal published in 1915, but within 1949-1994 there are 190 journals and 56,000 articles published in China. Among 72 current published journals, 50% issued by local library associations, and there are 15 core journals identified. Also, there is a trend shows that the proportion of article in information science increasing steadily. Finally, the authors offer the ways to reorganize the journals in the future to increase their quality, and set up standards for each journal to follow.
