The purpose of this study is to investigate the reading behaviors of se
nior high school strudents in Taipei. Using the telephone-interview with 104 stu
dents which were systematically sampled from the Taipei Municipal Chien Kuo
Senior High School, the study explores the following characteristics of students'
reading behaviors on both at school and after school: (1) attitude toward
reading;(2) preferences on certain subject and styles;(3) reasons and ways of
choosing reading materials;(4) how they obtain and use of monograph (includes
general paperback and textbooks), comics, magazines and newspapers.
