This article explores the needed two breakthroughs in the education of library and information studies. The first breakthrough is related to the professional training. For decades,LIS education has been emphasized too much on the management of library,in the future,LIS education should focus more on the training of the needed skills related to information center,information analysis center,knowledge center, and think tank. The second breakthrough is related to LIS research. LIS reseach has been critized for lacking of scholarly contribtion. We should investigate how other related fields citing LIS literature,from this understanding, we might find the way to conduct more significant research, in order to be reconized by other related disciplines.
