　　　　　本文研究一百六十五位以英語為外國語文的大學生學習英語時所用的學習策略並探討影響學習策略之變數。從因素分析法分析學生在奧克斯佛的語言學習策略量表所填的資料發現，學習者所使用的語言學習策略可區分為六大類：社會性、補償及情感性、記憶性、認知性、形式性練習、和功用性練習策略。這六類學習策略的命名顯示本研究所發現之因素型式與奧克斯佛原先對其量表所假設的型式並不一致。因此，未來的研究應使用驗證式因素分析法直接檢測奧氏量表之因素結構。從複迴歸分析法和交叉效度考驗的結果發現在這六類學習策略中，只有補償及情感性策略和形式性練習策略能顯著地被與學習者有關的變數所預測。變數動機強度、對英文課的負向態度、和自我觀念能共同預測補償及情感性策略，並解釋了百分之十八的變異數。學習英文的一般態度此一變數能顯著地預測形式性練習策略，也解釋了百分之十八的變異數。可見我們對語言學習策略的使用與某些變數之間關係的瞭解仍相當有限。未來的研究應嘗試找出更多會影響學習者使用策略之變數，以期能解釋為什麼學習者會使用某些策略以幫助學習外國語文。
