The information explosion has dramatically altered the knowledge and abilities people will need to live productivel in the twenty-first century. School library media programs must be dynamic and enthusiastic to ensure that all teachers and students achieve this status. This study investigated the history of school library to media center in the United States, as well as its definition and functions in the information age. Based on this understanding, this study also examined the development of school media centers in Taiwan and discussed two factors that have impeded their development.
