　　　　　近年來，檔案描述編碼格式(EAD)在美國地區迅速發展，並經由數個單位實施。EAD 已將成為檔案描述的新標準。本文首先解釋何謂EAD，並敘述EAD的發展經過，EAD所需之文 件與EAD DTD格式。此外，EAD在五個機構實施之經驗以及EAD實施時相關之行政與技術考 量等項分別探討。
　　　　　Encoding Archival Description (BAD) has developed rapidly and implemented by several institutions in the United States. EAD will be a new standard for archival description. This article describes what is EAD, the development of EAD, EAD documentation and EAD DTD. Also discussed are the implementation of EAD in five institutions and both the related administrative and technical factors should take into account.
