The location of stations along a transit line is an important decision for planning urban transit system. A mumber of models and algorithms have been proposed for estimating station spacing. However, most of them failed to give adequate consideration to the exact station locations. This study considers the case of locating transit stations along a bus line when number of station and transit demand are known. We presented a heuristic model that can be used to find the optimal locations on a bus line. The comparisons were made among six alternative strategies for locating stations and the model developed in this study. The results showed that the optimal model could lead to lower total passenger costs. We also find the optimum number of stops and locations.
