The purpose of contemporary design movement since the industrial revolution has always been to create design for the machine age; William Morris's "arts and crafts" movement, the German crafts league, the Bauhaus, and America's "Macnine-Age Design" are examples of such movements. Many design activities comparable to these were undertaken before we arrived at the information age with the design skills it requires. It aims to rebuild design, not as an extension of the old, but based upon the new. Undoubtedly, "Graphical User Interface Design" plays an important role in the field.
