The purpose of this study was to evaluate preliminarily the courses of a 2-year RN program. The research samples included: the 2-year RN graduate students of 1996, the2-year RN students in school from 1996 to 1998. Through triangulation, the research samples answered the questionnaires and interviews. The results revealed: The students thought that they could reach the educational goals, graduate characteristics, specific learning traits of this program. There were significant improvement of nursing competencies among students. It showed there were high achievements of the program aims. However, it needs to enhance their interests, confidences of practicing nursing for students. It is imperative to further plan the courses by the principles of adequateness, comprehension. multiple perspectives and flexion. To further cultivate the skills of understanding, communicating, and interacting between the teacher and the student was also valuable.
