This artical reports on a questionnaire survey and a Delphi investigation regarding the current status and future directions in education of students with disabilities. One thousand and fifty special education teachers、 administrators、 parents of children with disabilities、 and members of advocacy groups were selected as subjects of this questionnaire survey. Each of them was invited to answer a questionnaire about the current status of education with disabilities. The return rate is 78.86%. Thirty-five special education experts participated in the first round Delphi investigation and 33 panelists (94.29%) participated in both rounds. The panelists were asked to comments the future directions in education of students with disabilities. Both of these two study are about the essential components of special education. These components consist of administration、 teacher training、 curriculum and instruction、 transition services、and support system. All respondents confirmed the progress of our special education over the past few years. To face with future challenges, more endeavors will be directed toward the following areas: Establishing a working administrative system、 Boosting training of special education professionals、 Increasing to offer adequate educational placement based on the needs of handicapped children、 Implementing a proper transitional services、and Founding the interdisciplinary service team.
