為了順應讀者在數字時代的服務需求,圖書館需要重新規劃空間的使用,而最簡單經濟的方法是合理管理傳統的紙本資源,以便騰出空間來引進新型服務。文章介紹美國高校圖書館如何由單獨的圖書館到聯盟,從地區到全國等層面,管理紙本資源及其流程,著重討論如何利用當今的技術手段使高校圖書館能無后顧之憂地剔出重復的圖書館資源,從而優化圖書館館藏。

Due to the increasing demand for new library services,libraries are facing challenges in optimizing the use of library space. This paper discusses how U.S. academic libraries reclaim library space by effectively managing and preserving their legacy collections through various programs such as deselection, deduplication, offsite storage,digital preservation,and shared print agreement.
