From 2008,two Spanish universities,i.e. Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona(UAB) and Universitat de Barcelona(UB),have started to offer a joint master’s degree program on school library and reading promotion.It is the only official master’s degree in Spain dealing with this specific subject area. It provides a rich and unique educational experience. Three points are particularly noteworthy. Firstly, the community need for professional reading promoters is clearly identified with timely provision of relevant educational programs. Secondly, by adopting an inter-disciplinary teaching approach,students are trained in a highly professional manner. Thirdly,strict admission and graduation requirements are upheld.
