隋代法經《眾經目錄》體例嚴謹,頗有法度。撰者分類經律論、大小乘的同時,第一次在藏經目錄中創建佛滅度后傳記錄,設置此方佛法傳記,系統地著錄具有代表性的中土佛教史籍,總結佛教經錄發展史。它的佛教史籍分類思想和著述體例都為后世藏經著錄佛教史籍提供借鑒,在中國佛教史學上具有重要的歷史地位。

The ZHONGJING MULU is a rigorous and serious Buddhist historical index and commentary monograph. For the first time in Buddhist history,every book recorded in a monography arranged by Mahāyāna and Theravāda. A biography of Buddhism in it is written in the catalogue of Buddha sutras. It records representative historical books of Chinese Buddhism,and summarizes the history of Buddhist sutras. Its theory of catalogue and writing style are learned by later generations,and this book played an important role in the history of Chinese Buddhism.
