In the early Republic of China,scholars of Tongcheng School,such as Ma Qichang,Yao Yongpu and Yao Yonggai,were invited to the bureau in charge of writing history and participated in compilation of history of the Qing Dynasty. They spent a long time in this bureau,and their main work was compiling grouped biographies,and they also participated in the compilation of monographs. They did their best to write a famous standard history. They connected "literary works,textual research and argumentation"with the "talent,knowledge and insights". In the process of compilation,they wanted to get the historical truth,and paid great attention to the collection and using of historical data and the writing of historical records. Although most of their products failed to be collected in QINGSHIGAO due to some reasons,but the hard work that they had done shouldn’t be forgotten.
