Modern China was faced with the important transformation of the state, nation and society.Under the influence of Chinese traditional national view and Western nationalism, there was a serious political divergence between revolutionaries and constitutionalists. The ideas of "anti-Manchu"and "ejecting Manchu"of the early revolutionaries and their political aim of building a pure Han state originated from the view of"distinguishing Chinese from barbarians"; while the idea of"uniting Manchu"and the political aim to build a unified multi-ethnic country of the constitutionalists were based on the view of "unification of Chinese and ethnic minorities". Objectively speaking, constitutionalists’ idea and aim represented a greater progressive significance of the time.
