美國高校圖書館中的學生助理職位已出現近兩百年,其形象隨著時間推移不斷變化。文章結合不同時代背景梳理美國高校館學生助理的形象變遷,發現學生助理業務范圍不斷擴張,地位逐步上升,形象不斷多元化:最初被視為不能重用的打工者,隨著時代變遷,其形象逐漸轉變為充滿潛力的學習者、圖書館業務的"全面參與者"與不可或缺的工作伙伴。

Student assistant positions in American college and university libraries have appeared for nearly two hundred years and the images of these student assistants change over time.On the basis of previous research results,the author makes further analysis and finds that student assistants’ service scope has been expanding continuously so that their images vary from time to time.As time passes,those who were initially regarded as short-term lowlevel workers,gradually become high potential learners,full members of the library industry and indispensable working partners.
