Based on the review of a series of researches related to the concept of She( 社)since modern time in China, this thesis focuses on the historic narrative as well as the sacrifice custom called " zuo She" in a village of the Yizhou City at the Dragon River basin of Guangxi.By analyzing the spirit of She belief, it concludes that the source of She’s sanctity comes from human’s worship of nature, it bears the moral power to behave people, and establishes the social concept of belief and taboo mutual dependence, which has been built in people’s mind for generations.Therefore, the belief and ritual of She show multiple connotations in history and the modern time, it is meaningful to observe how it practices and how it changes, when it becomesa methodology of practicing fieldwork on folk society research.
