Religious freedom has always been the main issue for exploring the politics-and-religion relations. This article will demonstrate the general situation of religious freedom in our country from the perspective of a nation. This article will first illustrate Dr. Sun Yat-sen's unique viewpoint on "freedom" by examining his thoughts and then investigate the significance of religious freedom by probing into the constitutional rights of freedom. Therefore, the relation between religious legislation and power exercise in Taiwan will be evident. The purpose of this study is to emphasize that religious freedom, in the our specific historical context, has its particular implications, different from the interpretations from the western perspective.
