Trash is one of the critical environmental hygiene issues in Taiwna's recreational areas. Ta-Ta-Chia area is an important natural area for ecotourism at Yushan National Park, if classification and recycling of the slid waste were not properly handled, it would be a shame to our country and a crisis for our natural environment. The research was intended to study the quantities and categories of the solid waste, as well as the practices of the resources recycling at Yushan National Park, so that effective strategies could be proposed. Date-collecting of solid waste in the field, visitor questionnaires, and personal interview were conducted in the research. The survey revealed 44.7% of the visitors are constantly in contact with environmental-protection knowledge, and 58.3% of the respondents are constantly practicing of the resources recycling at home. More than 90% of the visitors favored or very solid waste sorting and resource recycle. Most visitors participated in the activities such as sightseeing, climbing and hiking, and leisure or recreational events at the park. PET bottles and plastic bottles were the most seen beverages carried by the visitors. It was frequently taken by the visitors that solid wastes sorted and put into various kinds of resources-recycling tanks. Most of the food carried by visitors were the beverages contained by PET bottles, plastic bottles (cans). The effective way to handle the solid waste in the Ta-Ta-Chia area were as follows: First of all, sorting and recycling; Secondly, solid waste reduction and education enhancement. More than 80% of the respondents were satisfied or very satisfied with practices of recycling resources in the area. As to the responsibility for recycling, most visitors recognized individual is the most important factor. According to the resources recycling reports by Yushan National Park Headquater, the recycling ration was significantly increased after the program implement, the current programs of solid waste sorting and resources recycling have achieved certain effectiveness. The following recommendations are proposed to promote the effectiveness of solid wastes sorting and resources recycling at Yushan National Park. 1.To increase the numbers of resources recycling tanks at the park. 2.To place at least one set of resources recycling tanks at each recreational precinct. 3.To advocate the concept of "All Pack In and All Pack Out". 4.To evaluate the suitability of the resources-recycling program currently implemented in the Ta-Ta-Chia area.
