This study investigated the development of National Dong Hwa University after its consolidation with the National Hualien University of Education. A customized survey questionnaire was designed, and then distributed to and completed by a total of 586 students. The aim of this survey was to investigate the changes brought about by consolidating the two schools from four perspectives: campus buildings, school symbols, departmental integration, and curriculum development. The conclusions and suggestions are listed below. Conclusions: 1. The degree of student satisfaction toward the status quo at the consolidated school was moderate. 2. As to students' views about campus buildings, there was no significant difference between the opinions of students from distinct backgrounds. 3. Students' views toward school symbols, including the school logo, school song, and the character of school celebrations varied with their grades and the campus which they attended. 4. From the perspective of departmental integration, students of different genders and from different campuses, colleges, grades, and departments presented greatly different levels of satisfaction. Whether or not a student belonged to an integrated department deeply influenced the satisfaction level as well. 5. A large variation was observed in students' attitudes toward curriculum development when grouping samples from various colleges, grades and the campuses they attended. Suggestions: 1. The opinions of consolidated departments should be coordinated prior to departmental integration. 2.
