我們生活在一個利益追逐與觀念產出、信息傳播迅速連結的年代,釐清哪些因素會對信息傳播效果產生顯著影響以及如何產生影響,具有重要的理論價值和實踐價值。本文以法輪功個案調查為基礎,考察符號資本與信息意義操作的影響。研究結果顯示,在法輪功創始人引導大量公眾信其所言為真、並將其本人拜為超宇宙之神的過程中,這兩個因素起到了決定性的輔助作用。這一研究發現顯示,布迪厄(P. Bourdieu)關於符號力量的論述內涵需要作出相應的擴張和延伸。
We are living in an era in which individuals, social groups or countries are all pursuing their interests dynamically. To a large extent, however, the success of the pursuit depends on the effectiveness of their communication, in the sense of making others believe their key messages and act accordingly. It is, therefore, of high value to understand what factors are responsible for the effectiveness of communication. While this effectiveness is contingent upon a variety of variables, this paper investigates two of them- the message sender's symbolic capital and the manipulated meaning of his key messages. The investigation is carried out on the basis of an empirical study of falungong. Research results show that these two factors played a major role in helping the founder of falungong to make his audience believe the validity of what he said, follow his Falun Dafa, and worship him as a god more powerful than Christian God and Buddhist Sakyamuni. The research further shows that Bourdieu's perspective on symbolic power needs to be expanded accordingly.
