　　　　　從歷史的角度考察，文化心理學之發展的第一個時期，以追求共同而普遍之心理機制為目標，其與心理人類學及「文化與人格」學派的研究進路與研究課題並無明顯差別。第二個時期的文化心理學，開始注重被研究對象之社會文化脈絡的重要性，以及對語言的語意及語用分析的重視。第三個時期的文化心理學則強調人的主觀建構、象徵行動及社會實踐的文化意涵，並企圖以詮釋現象學的觀點切入，以建立詮釋性的文化心理學知識。本文除有系統地就文化心理學在三個不同時期的知識論立場、方法論主張、研究進路特色及研究方法特徵，作一番詳細的評介外，並就各個時期的情形進行比較性的知識性批判。甚且，作者更對一些主要的文化心理學者的知識論立場，及其對文化、社會及歷史的觀念，做相當程度的質疑與檢討。再者，本文還介紹了心態史學的基本主張與研究特色，並討論未來它奧文化心理學相互接壤與交會的可能性。最後，作者特別指出文化心理學對目前國內本土心理學研究可能的影響與啟示。
