The purpose of this study was to investigate the important
events in counseling process, that of the development pattern
of working alliance, and the relations among important events、
working alliance and session impact. The major findings were as
follow:1.The participants of the counseling identified the
positive important events, which is helpful to counseling were
provision of personal meaning, description and exploration of
feeling, emergence of significant material, expression of
insight, expression of new ways of being or behaving, learning
about therapeutic process, counselor''s provision of concrete
information, and set up the goal and the need of counseling.
The important event, which hindered the counseling process were
the untreated self, vague focus of the interview, the poor
physical and mental state,and the difficulties of receiving and
expression of information and feeling.and ambivalence silence.
The common important events of the participants were provision
of personal meaning, description and exploration of feeling,
and counselor''s provision of concrete informatin.2.The
perception of working alliance of each dyads in four sessions
was unique. However, most of the dyads presented the variation
situation of up and down.3.Relation among important events,
working alliance and session impact was: parts of the important
events, and the dimension of working alliance all have had
affected upon the ration of session impact. Parts of the
important events and working alliance overlaped. That is, the
content of working alliance was supposed as some of the
important events. Suggestions for counseling practician,
professional training and further study were recommended.
