As one of key philosophers in the middle-behind Ming Dynasty, Wang Ting-Xiang inherited the thought of ‘the great void being the same as matter force ’ from Zhang Zai, and he criticized the theory of Chu Hsi in foundationally. The thought of ‘the great void being the same as matter force ’ was combined with the cosmos theory of Chi in Han Dynasty and the ontology of Buddhism. This thought offered a basic to the development of Neo-Confucian, and more consideration of metaphysic in Confucian. Wang Ting-Xiang had a great positive estimation to Zhang Zai’ s contribution in the development of Neo-Confucian. He had claimed‘Zhang Zai had a great contribution to later ages, and it own to him reveal the secrets of nature and probe the mystery of life.’Especially in the secrets of nature, Wang Ting-Xiang agreed that the view of Chi or the matter force is the cause of universal, and he also absorbed the thought from Zhang Zai. The part of scholars and I believe that Wang Ting-Xiang is a successor of Zhang Zai, and he had inspired Wang Fu-Zhi , a major philosopher in the Qing Dynasty, but we also need to notice that the difference and the resemblance between Wang Ting-Xiang and Zhang Zai. How did Wang Ting-Xiang interpret the thought of ‘the great void being the same as matter force ’? Did he had any originated ideal ? Is it reasonable that he criticized the theory of Chu Hsi? What's the influence of Wang Ting Xiang’ s theory to the later ages ? Those of problems we may try to engage in solution.
