Since the Chinese economic has reformed in 1979, China's abundant land resources, low cost labor and incentive investment made it become one of the interesting countries for international investments, especially for Taiwanese firms. However, advancing in technology has moved some industries away from labor-intensive status since 1988 and the changes in environment for investments have caused some difficulties for Taiwanese firms in Mainland China. Thus, to maintain high competitive, business transformation is a key to overcome the obstacles.
This study seeks to obtain and compare data from market values, areas, and investment scales of Taiwanese firms in Mainland China in order to gain major factors of successful business transformation strategies. Another purpose of this study is to analyze the impacts of intellectual property of dynamic managerial capabilities, social capital and human capital on business transformation strategies. Therefore, the correlation between transformation strategies and business performance was examined by a qualitative case study on five selected Taiwanese firms in Mainland China,
The result showed that when external environmental factors are changing, resource based control competition, unique management insight and proficient technique can be implemented to gain values for the organizations. The case study revealed that by choosing and allocating resources appropriately, there was a positive impact on the firms when managers make transformation strategies.
