This research try to explore the process of beginning, re-offending, continuation of crime and resilience by researching the criminal history and important events of 11 Southeast Asian female spouses in Taiwan. It mainly adopts the narrative research approach to analyze the impacts of related events on crime.
This research get the results as follow: The process of initiation of criminal: (1) Most of the Criminal types are assault, fraud, drugs; (2) Bad companionships and workplaces provide channels to promote their crimes; (3) The continuation of crime is formed by learning of their criminal skills; (5) First time offenders are often caused by ignorance. They usually committed crimes within 5-10 years after coming to Taiwan. Punishment doesn’t provide adequate deterrent effect .
The process of re-offending: (1) The interval between the first offender and the re-offending is too close, and the re-offending is often an unresolved case; (2) The re-offending plot is the same as that of the first offender; (3) The punishment for reoffending is relatively light, it is not easy to stop their continuing crimes.
3. The process of continuation of crime: (1) On-going crimes still mostly take place in prostitution because of their consideration of getting money; (2) Continuing crimes are rooted in how to avoid detection and are linked with illegal groups.
4. The process of suspension of crime: (1) Imprisonment and the short-term return after release could cause the suspending of crime; (2) the suspension of the crime is often affected by the outside world since the lack of self-control.
5. The Process of resilience: (1) The families of their first-time spouses are generally weak in social control; (2) The background of the remarriag spouses are often once divorced or still married, which tend to make the relationship more complicated; (3) The support network of the positive recovery force is not strong, and the self-awakening power is weak and failed to continue; (4) The course and function of recovery depends on the adjustment of individual self-control.
Research recommendations include policy of prevention, policy, detection, correction and treatment level.
