Examining the records of the introduction of Chinese ancient books into Japan in the Edo period(江戶時代), as well as the history of Japanese literature, we can find that in the Ming dynasty of China, Li Panlong (李攀龍,1514-1570) and Wang Shizhen (王世貞,1526-1590) headed the "Ancient Resignation(古文辭派)", which was deeply discussed in the Japanese Sinology of the Edo period(江戶時代), especially the Chinese poetries of the Kenengakuha (蘐園學派, a Confucian school sect of Sorai OGYU, 荻生徂徠, 1666-1728, and his disciples) had been influenced. However, the "circulation, tolerance and variation" in East Asian culture is not simply a matter of "influence/acceptance". Moreover, even the seemingly undoubtedly literary conclusions are removed from the new context, and presenting a completely different look in front of us. Starting with the re-examination of the " Kenen Collection of Books(「蘐園藏書目錄」)" and "Butsusisyobokukoutatsusyomoku (「物子書示木公達書目」) ", the academic bibliography which was used to teach disciples, and it could be found that there were many of Yang Shen(楊慎)’s works are also collected in them. It can be inferred that the poetry theories of the scholars in the Ming dynasty, such as the "Literature of the Ancients" in the Ming dynasty, may also be related to the concept of " Six dynasties(六朝) ." Therefore, before understanding the literary thoughts of Edo Han scholars, Sorai OGYU(荻生徂徠), it is the primary task of this study to understand Yang Shen’s discourse on " Six dynasties ".
In view of above mentioned reasons, this research explores the theories of Chinese poems and Song poems (Song Lyrics宋詞), which had important consensus formation system on literary criticism, have been previously mentioned several times on the Chinese literary history. This research which focuses on the Chinese poems and Song poems statements by Yang Shen not only provides a new horizon on Chinese critical texts, but also addresses two problems that have been ignored or not adequately treated in earlier works. Additionally, it traces the history of Chinese poems and Song poems, linking them with Six dynasties poems(六朝詩), and organizes a new genealogy of Chinese poems and Song poems. on top of that, Yang Shen shows poetic rhythm and creation rules, methods about Chinese poems and Song poems. In particular, he persists that the creation forms on Chinese poems and Song poems should be looked back upon poem in six dynasties. Ultimately, this research aims to sort out the theories and creative works of Yang Shen, and implicitly ask the question of how to reconstruct Chinese poem history, when facing the material from the Chinese medieval period, reflecting the literary problems in Ming dynasty. I suggest that we should emphasize the Six dynasties literature(六朝文學) and make use of what we have to re-inspect, as best as we can.
On the basis of research mentioned above, as the special products in literature domain of Ming dynasty, the culture commodities were constantly pushing forward the development of society with this particularity, and Yang Shen’s works were exactly the good mirrors which reflected the times.” The Six Dynasties Theory of Yang Shen(楊慎)--as well as the interpretation and reception of Ogyu Sorai” is a research of how the six dynasties literature tradition was traced back and reproduced by Ming(明代)’s intellectual, especially being promoted and reinterpreted by Yang Shen. By searching, gathering and comparing all various fields of Yang Shen’s works, this research focuses on three sections: through the perspective of narratology, the background and motive on Yang Shen’s literature theory about Six dynasties creation purpose are clarified in the first section. Comparing the different collection and versions of Yang Shen’s work, the highest possibilities about Yang Shen’s sketches are attempted to solve in the second section. The construction and metaphor about ideal new paradigm of Ming, political ambition, life philosophy and significant implications of Yang Shen’s creations are revealed in the third section. Also, to probe the cultural conditions that Yang Shen was faced with, an interpretation about consciousness of writers and scholars in Ming dynasty is conducted.
